At TUM School of Management, we carry out teaching and research at the intersection of management, engineering, natural und life sciences. Located in the heart of Munich, a thriving city in one of Germany’s most prosperous regions, we enjoy an academic, cultural and economic infrastructure that attracts talents from all over the world.

Since its foundation in 2002, the faculty has been engaged in a broad range of research projects that bridge the gap between disciplines. Our research focuses on future trends and real-world solutions that advance innovation-based businesses and benefit society at large.

Our highly motivated, international student body as well as the cooperation with renowned universities and management schools worldwide guarantee a global perspective, while industry know-how is brought into our programs through strong collaboration with our corporate partners.  Together, we create a dynamic, inspirational and international community.

In 2015, our bachelor’s program was the first in Germany to be officially recognized by EPAS, the international accreditation system of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD).

Grounded in TUM’s technological and entrepreneurial ecosystem, TUM School of Management educates responsible talents and pursues relevant research to advance innovation-based businesses and societies in Germany, Europe and the world.


Emerging from a long academic tradition

After its foundation in 2002, TUM School of Management has quickly established itself as one of the leading business schools in Germany.  Its academic history however goes back much further:

Master in Management is established and replaces the two previous tracks for the Master in Management (TUM-WIN and TUM-NAWI).
A new and completely English-based track for the Bachelor in Management & Technology is established.
Executive MBA in Business & IT is established.
TUM School of Management proudly receives the AMBA Accreditation for its Executive MBA programs.
Bachelor in Management & Technology is the first program of a German university to be accredited by EPAS.
Master’s program in Management and Technology (Track 2) and Master’s program in Management (Track 2) established.
Master’s program in Management (Track 1) and European Master’s program in Consumer Affairs established.
TUM School of Management restructures its programs in line with the Bologna Process.
TUM School of Management offers its first Executive MBA in Innovation & Business Creation in collaboration with UnternehmerTUM and the Leipzig Graduate School of Management.
Executive MBA in Communication & Leadership established.
Master of Consumer Science established.
TUM School of Management founded by splitting up the Faculty for Economic and Social Sciences and integrating the Department of Business and Social Sciences of the Weihenstephan Science Center.
Bachelor’s program in Management & Technology established.
Postgraduate studies in Management-oriented Business Administration established.
Faculty for Business Administration and Social Sciences is established.
Following wartime destruction and staff dismissals on political grounds, the Department of Economics intermittently relocates to Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München.
Merger with the Commercial College of Munich makes the Technical University of Munich the biggest in Germany. Academic portfolio now includes degrees in economics and business alongside mechanical engineering and electrical engineering.
The Technical University of Munich is established as the Polytechnical School of Munich.
