A Warm Welcome to Our New Students!
The new campus life means social distancing, but not social isolation.
Approximately 1,600 new students started their studies at the TUM School of Management this week! Unlike in previous years, this year’s Welcome Event had to take place virtually. Nevertheless, the event gave all of our first-year students a great chance to get to know the university and connect with fellow students.
Monday, October 19, 2020 – For the first time, and due to prevailing contact restrictions, 1,600 new students were welcomed into the TUM family virtually. The aim of this year’s Digital Welcome Event was to provide our new students with the opportunity to: meet fellow students, get an overview of the TUM School of Management, and receive additional information on their respective study program and location, despite the current restrictions around on-site events. Our Dean, Prof. Dr. Gunther Friedl, launched the event with an official welcome speech together with Professors Jürgen Ernstberger, Hanna Hottenrott, and Hana Milanov from the campuses in Munich and Garching, and Professors Helmut Krcmar and Sebastian Müller, representing the TUM Campus Heilbronn. Via the online streaming platform Streavent, all of our first-year students then had the opportunity to meet their respective program managers, the student council in Munich and Heilbronn, representatives of the TUM Management Alumni e.V., and learn all about the International Office. For fun, the platform furthermore contained networking and gaming options, so students could get to know each other. Getting in touch with one another and sharing study experiences will pose a challenge this upcoming semester, which is why we are providing the networking platform Mystery Minds that will allow students to connect with each other, virtually. Because the new campus life means social distancing, not social isolation.
We wish all our first-year students, as well as all of our current students, a great semester start on November 2nd! We are ready, are you?
