Bachelor in Management & Technology

Corona Virus Update: Please note that you can find the most recent updates and information on how it is affecting operations at TUM here: https://www.tum.de/en/about-tum/news/coronavirus/. Unfortunately, we cannot give you detailed information regarding the application process (e.g. cancelled GMAT/TOEFL tests) yet.
We’re trying to make the application process as easy as possible for you. For this purpose, we have changed the structure of the admission website. The admission requirements and admission process, however, remain without any modifications.

Application Procedure

Your application will proceed through TUMonline. A guideline about the application in TUMonline can be found here.

All international applicants with international university entrance qualifications (e.g. secondary level education qualifications) must also apply via Uni-assist  (you can have your documents reviewed by uni-assist at any time throughout the year). Uni-Assist will make a preliminary evaluation on whether you meet the entry requirements for the Bachelor program at TUM. Please note that the Uni-Assist application needs to be completed before the end of the application period, however, the document that Uni-Assist will provide you with (VPD), can be handed in later, even after the application period has ended. Please email to study@tum.de as a pdf-soft copy and include your applicant’s and application’s number.

If you are applying with an IB Diploma further information can be found here.

We follow a two-step process to ensure that we select most qualified and suitable applicants for the program. Further information about the admission process is explained below under Step 4: Take part in the aptitude assessment process.

how to apply in 5 steps

Please first check whether you meet the entrance requirements for the Bachelor in Management and Technology

  • Abitur (university entrance qualification) or equivalent
  • Proficiency in either English or German. Please refer here for more details. If you’re applying with the German Abitur, no further proof of prociency in either English or German is necessary!

You will receive a list of all documents that you need to upload along with a signed version of your completed application form.  Find out here which documents you need and prepare them beforehand.

Please note that you may have to provide additional documents, so please check here.

If you are applying for the program in Campus Straubing, please fill out the Preselection Form. (This step is only necessary if you are applying for the Bachelor in Management and Technology specialization Renewable Resources).

Please start the application via TUMonline within the application period.

All documents required for admission have to be uploaded in PDF format to the online application form. TUMonline will also generate a form during the online application process. You need to download it, sign it, and re-upload it in order to complete the online application.

Documents issued in German or English need not be translated. Documents not issued in German or English must be translated by a sworn translator into either German or English. Please merge both the original and the translation and upload them as one PDF file.

After submitting the online application, you can view its status any time in your TUMonline account.

I have just applied, what now?

Once all mandatory application documents have been correctly uploaded within the application period, our enrollment office (CST) will start processing your application. Due to the large number of applicants, this process may take several weeks. You can check the status of your application in your TUMonline account.

Please note: the Admission Team of the School of Management is not involved in this step and cannot give any feedback during this process. If you have question regarding this step please contact the Center for Studying and Teaching/CST.

The Admission Team of the School of Management will only have access to those applications that have been processed and acknowledged as formally correct by the enrollment office (CST). Once that’s done, we’ll start assessing your application.

If your application fulfils all the formal requirements evaluated by CST, it will be submitted to the Admission Team. We follow a two-stage assessment procedure to be able to select the best possible candidates for the Bachelor in Management and Technology:

Stage 1:

Applicants with a German Abitur:

When reviewing your application we will take both your final Abitur grade into account, as well as your three individual half-year grades (“Halbjahresnoten”) in German or English, Mathematics and in any Advanced Natural Science subject (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Informatics or Technology).
Applicants who do not have any grades in one or more of those subjects will be invited for an interview directly.

Applicants with an international university entrance qualification:

When reviewing your application we will take your final grade and the grades you received in your last two years of secondary school in the subjects German or English, Mathematics and an Advanced Natural Science into account.
If we cannot assess your individual grades in the above-mentioned subjects, we will base our assessment on the final grade (GPA) of your university entrance qualification and your performance in the admission interview. Applicants who do not have any grades in one or more of those subjects will be invited for an interview directly.

Stage 2: Admission Interview

Should you be denied a direct admission, you still get the chance to prove yourself in the admission interview. The interviews for Campus Munich will be conducted online on 07.08.2020, 14.08.2020, 21.08.2020, 28.08.2020, 11.09.2020, 18.09.2020 and 25.09.2020.

Please “save these dates” on your calendar. You will receive an official invitation with a specific date for you around 2 weeks before the interview. Please note that the Admission Team of the TUM School of Management cannot make any estimate regarding which date will be assigned to you yet.

You will receive the invitation, as well as additional information about the interview process, via e-mail. Please check your e-mail and spam folder regularly.

The outcome of our assessment of your application will show up in your TUMOnline account. Once you received admission, you will be able to accept your spot and enroll to TUM. This process is carried out by the enrollment office (CST) of TUM. Please visit this website for information on how to proceed with your enrollment.
