Doctoral Program

PROGRAM GOALS

The Research Excellence Program provides strong and individualized support, a special training program, networking events and additional funding for international research activities.

Overview

In addition to the regular doctoral program, the Research Excellence Program offers:

Additional Funding for International Research Activities

Yearly up to 2.500 € additional funding per applicant for the participation in international doctoral courses, research stays and conferences.

Academic Career Coaching

Regular meetings of doctoral candidates and professors of our faculty to discuss aspects of academic career building and improve networking among doctoral candidates and Postdocs

Career Seminars

New seminar format that prepares third year candidates for job talks (including video based coaching), university appointments, concept papers etc.

It requires:

International Academic Networking

Participation in at least two academic discussions with external researchers (e.g. faculty research seminar)

Additional Doctoral Courses

Participation in a total of 8 courses of the doctoral course program (thus 3 more than the regular curriculum). Postdocs attend summer or winter schools and/or teach doctoral courses.

The funding of the program is limited to a maximum of 2 years. Candidates receive a certificate for the successful participation in the program.

Application

Current doctoral candidates (ideally second year) and Postdocs of our faculty can apply twice a year; the application deadlines end in March and September each year.

Doctoral candidates are welcome to apply until 16 October 2020.
