“Starting Up USA”: Campus Garching shows a movie about start-up founders from TUM
The documentary “Starting Up USA – from the garage to a Unicorn in 5000km” shows a road trip from San Fransisco to New York, searching for the secrets of success of the best start-ups. One of these start-ups is Celonis, which is one of the premium partners of TUM School of Management’s Alumni Association and was founded by three graduates from the Technical University Munich (TUM). They started their business in 2011, founded an office in the USA in 2012 and became a so-called “Unicorn”, which describes a company with a market value over a billion US-Dollar.
Celonis offers a so-called process-mining-software, which enables companies to analyze and visualize IT-based processes. This helps in the understanding and improvement of complex and “hidden” processes. The founders Martin Klenk, who studied Informatics, Bastian Nominacher, who studied Finance and Information Management, and Alexander Rinke, who graduated in Mathematics, developed their technology right after their studies at TUM. Four years after their establishment, Celonis was named the “fastest growing company for technology in Germany”. Nowadays, many relevant companies are among Celonis’ investors.
The movie will be shown on November 8, 2017 at 7:00 pm at the faculty building of mathematics and informatics. After the presentation of the movie, there will be a panel discussion with Celonis founder Martin Klenk and Florian Schmitt, Vice President Start-up Relations of the Haufe Group and producer of the film „Starting Up USA“.
