The TUM School of Management – consistently top in the rankings of business schools in Germany for its outstanding teaching and research activities – invites you to be part of its upcoming International Summer School in July 19-30, 2021. We take up the current times challenge and offer our International Summer School 2021 this year again online.

International Summer School 2021 – Sustainable Entrepreneurship: Theory and Practice!

Sustainable entrepreneurship, with its combination of economic, social and ecological goals, is a powerful tool for tackling grand societal challenges. The International Summer School 2021 will be hosted in Munich and provide you with the theoretical and practical input you need to become a change-maker. Our objectives: Inform – Inspire – Interact!


Benefit from cutting-edge research at a triple crown accredited business school and from the rich experience of sustainable entrepreneurs.


Work with dedicated academics and sustainable entrepreneurs from different industries, including food and beverages, energy and e-mobility. Participate in interactive activities and learn how to turn grand societal challenges in entrepreneurial opportunities.


Collaborate with people from all over the world, generate sustainable entrepreneurial ideas and turn them into sustainable business models.  Enjoy a unique time in Munich and its stunning surroundings and get the real Bavarian experience. The cultural program of the Summer School includes (among others): a Munich City Tour, a welcome beer garden, a hiking trip at the foothills of the Bavarian Alps, barbecue at the Isar, a sustainable wine-tasting, and a memorable farewell party.

Program fee: A lower fee of .€ 790,- in total is charged due to the Online format of the program.
Covid-19 Policy:


For us at TUM School of Management, the health and safety of our participants and lecturers come first. This year, Covid-19 will not allow us to host the International Summer School in Munich. Therefore, we will offer it online during the same time period.
Program fee includes:
  • 2 weeks classes
  • Full reading package
  • Lectures by excellent academics
  • Discussions with sustainable founders
  • Interactive activities and group work
  • 6 ECTS
  • Certificate from the TUM School of Management
Credits: 6 ECTS (Equivalent to 3 Credits in the Anglo-Saxon context)
Examination: Oral group presentation and short written paper relating the sustainable business model developed during the program (max 3000 words)


The International Summer School 2021 will take place online due to Covid-related circumstances! Nevertheless, you will have the chance to meet leading academics and sustainable founders online, to work with inspiring, like-minded people from all over the world.

Prof. Dr. Frank Martin Belz

Dr. Frank-Martin Belz received his PhD in Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland). Since 2003 he has been full professor and holder of the Chair for Corporate Sustainability at TUM School of Management. He focusses his research on sustainable entrepreneurship in industrialized and developing countries.

Dr. Rebecca Preller

Entrepreneurship Research Institute
TUM School of Management

Dr. Rebecca Preller is researcher at the TUM Entrepreneurship Research Institute. Her research focuses on how entrepreneurial teams develop ideas into businesses over time. She teaches courses on business idea development at the Bachelor, Master, and PhD level as well as for corporate clients. Before starting her PhD program she worked as a strategy consultant serving clients with an innovation focus.

Dr. Aline Menden


Dr. Aline Menden received her PhD from the TUM School of Management. She is co-founder and managing director of Endeva, a global network of thought leaders and brokers, who accelerate inclusive business innovations. Over the past ten years, Dr. Menden has led and implemented a variety of research and consulting projects for a broad range of organizations, including large companies, NGOs, international organizations, and foundations.

Florian Henle

Florian Henle studied European Business Administration and graduated with a double degree from Cambridge and Landshut. He was finalist of the Swiss Economic Award 2008, the most important award for young entrepreneurs in Switzerland. 2011 he co-founded Polarstern, the pioneer for cutting edge energy products for a sustainable energy future. He is in charge of Business Development, Energy Trading, Finance and Marketing. In 2014, he was awarded one of the top 100 of the Purpose Economy. He just turned 40, lives in Gräfelfing, near Munich and is father of three sons.

Jona Christians

Sono Motors

Jona Christians is co-founder and managing director of the mobility provider Sono Motors. Sono Motors GmbH was founded in 2016 as a result of a project started with his friend Laurin Hahn after graduating from high school. The project took root in their common vision of a sustainable mobility concept that is independent from fossil fuels.

Torsten Schreiber

Africa GreenTec

Torsten Schreiber is a self-made man and serial entrepreneur. Since 2000, he founded several internet-based new ventures and was engaged in a political party driving the digital agenda. For example, he (co-)founded the sustainable investment platform ’bettervest’, the start-up incubator ’Gründertaxi’ and ‚’RockmyStartup’, a consultancy for social businesses. Now, he is the co-founder and Managing Director of ’Africa GreenTech’.

Fabian Eckert


Fabian Eckert cofounded the startup Recup in 2016 with Florian Pachaly. Their mission is to fight unnecessary waste from to-go coffee by implementing a reusable coffee cup (bento) deposit system. Recup is rising in popularity and quickly becoming available in more and more German cities today.

Silvia Angel

Social Impact GmbH

Silvia Angel is a professional freelance storyteller, performing on versatile stages, offering workshops and coaching, and using stories to spark impulses for change. In parallel, she has studied Management of Social Innovation and currently works at Social Impact gGmbH as a trainer and coach. Over the last decade she has been involved in designing and facilitating diverse projects and processes in the fields of education, social innovation, creativity, collaborative work, and entrepreneurship.
